The work of Malika Favre never fails to impress with her simple and eye-catching illustrations. The project, On The Draw lets us reminisce long sunny days of the summer gone, through a series of stunning illustration from her trip to Fuerteventura, Tenerife. The project was coordinated with design studio 28ymedio as a campaign to help promote the Canary Islands. By working with a number of illustrators to visualise their 5 day visits to one of the islands, they captured their trips through their social media diaries, as well as a collection of memorable illustrations. Malika’s work is a personal favourite, and I would be more than happy to have any of her illustration as a postcard of the summer.
French illustrator, based in London since 2004, Malika only pursued her career as an independent illustrator 5 years after leaving her work at design studio Airside. Her illustrations though initially appear minimal manage to capture movement, depth, light, shadow and emotion. As she describes, she tries to capture the ‘essence of her subject, using as few lines and colours as it needs’. She definitely reaches this goal, and we can’t get enough of her work.
