For those not familiar with D&AD, this non-profit organisation has been inspiring a community of creative thinkers by celebrating and stimulating the finest in design and advertising since 1962. A D&AD Pencil is recognised globally as the ultimate creative accolade; the Awards entered and attended by the best creative decision makers from around the world. Most recently they’ve launched its 2017 Professional Awards Campaigns collaborating for a second year running with Lucky Generals, co-founder of Lucky Generals talked about the inspiration behind the campaign: “Your mum. No-one’s prouder of you than her. And imagine how proud she’d be if you won a Pencil.”
Winning a Pencil is often the highlight and incredibly proud achievement of a persons creative career, so D&AD took a look behind the scenes to find out the true value of what it means to win a pencil. Rather than simply interviewing a past winner, the team decided to take a different approach to this campaign, exploring the concept through the eyes of who knows them best their mums! The D&AD film crew toured the world to capture the stories “only a mother could tell”. This unique and interesting approach gives refreshing perspective on the process and events that occur when participating in the competition, and you and view the film in the links below.
