Talented illustrators Jennifer Dionisio and Sam Peet came together in an exciting collaboration to create two large giclée prints for The Brothers of the Stripe show, Brothers and Sisters. For those of you who don’t know, Brothers of the Stripe are an artist collective of all male movers and shakers, picked for their devotion to their style and craft. Each member of The Brother’s Stripe was asked to choose a female illustrator to work with for this show, which took place at The Stour Space in London in August 2016.
Sam Peet is an illustrator who has worked with an impressive list of clients including, Fortune, Wired, Monocle and Penguin Books and chose Jennifer for his partner in creative crime. Jennifer Dionisio is an artist and illustrator with a detailed vintage style that has earned her work with Little White Lies, The Guardian, The Clerkenwell Post and The Pool. And for this collaboration Sam and Jennifer wanted to share the distinction of their individual styles by juxtaposing them against each other.
Born within the design process they decided to create Common People, portraits of an eccentric brother and sister with their equally unusual pets. Restricting themselves to a limited colour palette throughout both pieces, Sam created the boy and Jennifer, the girl. This process encouraged Sam’s exceptional and unqique vectored artwork whilst simultaneously showcased Jennifer’s finesse with hand drawing, light and shadow. Each artwork was printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper as a fine art giclée.
