Participants will work on a design which will be about new Spring growth and this will be converted into a linocut print. There will be the opportunity to produce a single colour print and learn the technique of using two colours. All participants will be able to take home a print of their own design.
Workshop Tutor – Rod Sheppard
Rod’s printmaking has been strongly influenced by his varied interests. These include wildlife photography, the industrial heritage of the Ironbridge Gorge and the railway heritage of the UK. He has travelled extensively, especially in South America, and his photographs are used on a number of wildlife holiday websites.
Since retirement, Rod has been developing his interest in printmaking. He bases his designs on what he has observed and photographed, and he is always trying to move his work on in new directions. Rod is very grateful for the tremendous support he got from local artists in encouraging him to develop his art. He is currently working and exhibiting at the Jan Park Studio in Jackfield. He also has work at the Bolthole in Ironbridge, the Coracle Micropub and Lamorna Pottery in Cornwall.
Severn Gorge Countryside Trust
This workshop is being hosted by the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust, a local charity.
The Trust’s aim is to promote, protect and conserve the living landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, which has a diverse range of habitats, including wildflower meadows, woodlands and heathlands. But that’s not all! We maintain over 20 kilometres of footpaths, conserve and protect 60 historic structures, run exciting Outdoor Learning and Volunteering Programmes to encourage local people and visitors to engage with the natural environment in a variety of ways.
All proceeds from this workshop will support the work of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.
Our Outdoor Learning Programme 2024/2025
Get Creative with Nature!
Our Outdoor Learning Programme for 24/25 is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the environment through creative workshops and walks. Whether it’s letting your creativity flow, encouraging you to enjoy the simple pleasure of spending time outside in nature, or learning a new skill, there is something for everyone!
Engaging with nature has been well demonstrated to have positive effects on both mental and physical wellbeing. We hope that this in turn promotes the desire to protect and preserve the natural environment, for present and future generations.
Be inspired in nature’s classroom!
