Indie Market workshop “Bolle, monti, nubi io stampo…”
May 25 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm CEST
£20,00On Saturday 25 May with the following times: from 4.30p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
A unitary meeting conceived as a 1.5 hour cumulative experience in order to focus attention on relief printing and linking the practical activity to the contemporary declination with references to twentieth century artists such as Andy Warhol’s stamps, Jackson Pollock’s dripping and André Breton’s frottage. Materials, artists and measures to approach relief printing in relation to the current reference points “People of Print” and “Pressing Matters” will be explored in depth, looking at books such as “Rose nell’asciata” by Bruno Munari and “Rosi Rapita” by Simone Klages for a look at the playful vision dedicated to the little ones.
Minimum number of participants for each course: 5. Maximum number of participants: 15.
Registration fee: €20 per member.
Participation includes materials for drawing, engraving and printing on paper. Registration managed by the Indie Comix secretarial service in collaboration with Selma Libreria.
During the day, relief printing will be introduced with a focus on the environmental and sustainable declination similar to the project activities. The theme of the imaginary will be declined with respect to the transformation of the printing matrix into an image printed on paper, recalling echoes from personal memory in relation to the artistic technique and the autumn period with attention to the tactile exploration of surfaces. We will proceed with the experience of the frottage technique starting from sections of wooden trunks and gradually moving onto other surfaces such as LEGO® bricks, in this way we will learn about tactile perception and the concept of relief. We will move on to the selection and printing of leaves collected from woods and gardens, through the use of a manual “Provisional Press” proofing press. Together we will create a personalized matrix with bubble wrap and cardboard starting from waste packaging to create colorful prints on a small brochure composed in paper processing. To complete this multisensory journey we can also include a passage with waste vegetables and the impression of their section on paper, alongside hand-carved stamps on colored rubber.
Everyone will carry with them the outcome of the course.
Participants can bring with them a pencil case with their own drawing material or a starting idea to develop during the course, as well as an inspirational image to enrich the small booklet we will create with a drawing.
