Our classes offer a hands-on introduction to letterpress and are an ideal opportunity for anyone who would like to acquire a practical knowledge of this craft at a beginners level.
Participants experience the entire process, from composition (hand-setting, spacing and locking-up type) to printing (inking and pulling the press). Access to our library of over 700 wood and metal fonts is open and everyone leaves with a printed example of their work.
Group size is maximum of four and we begin with a collaborative outcome, with each person setting their contribution and then printing the finished form. Once this is complete, individuals are free to produce their own work.
All materials are provided but please wear old clothes or bring an apron. A ‘printer’s lunch’ is provided, please let us know if you have any dietry requirements.
Covid-19 measures
The following measures are in place to make teaching classes safe for everyone:
• Class capacity has been reduced by half, from 8 to 4 people, to allow for social distancing.
• The class leader has been fully vaccinated
