“Dot, dot, comma, the head is ready.”
POP&ROLL’s season-opening exhibition invites you to smile: did you know that the first version of the smiley head we know today was designed by graphic designer Harvey R. Ball in 1963 for the State Mutual Life Assurance company in Worcester, with the aim of improving mood?
Through emojis, the little yellow symbol has now become an integral part of our everyday communication – we can express sincere joy and happiness with it, but it can also mean anger in Generation Z.
If it were possible to condense humanity into a single sign, then this sign would be perfectly suited for it, so now we are also making an attempt to communicate our thoughts with this yellow head.
Keep Smiling!🙃
