SUMMARY:Traditional Japanese Scroll + Wraparound Box Weekend Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Emakimono (picture scroll) is a book in its most elementary form\, consisting of a number of sheets of paper joined in sequence\, attached to a pine dowel at one end and with a cloth-bound outer cover. Traditionally used for Buddhist sutras and picture books\, this technique has the potential to be applied to contemporary book arts projects today. \nDay one will focus on the scroll itself\, a beautiful combination of washi (kozo\, mitsumata\, gampi)\, nori (rice paste – conservational glue substitute)\, and cloth. You will be learning a traditional backing technique – URAUCHI. This technique makes artwork sturdier and can be used to create a bookcloth. \nDay two will be dedicated to creating a modern version of a custom scroll box. You will use beautiful decorative Japanese papers – including Katazome sheets from Awagami paper mill and sumingashi (traditional eco Japanese marbling technique) washi – to create a wrap around Jikumono-bako that will store your made emakimono\, which will be wrapped in silk ribbon and secured with bone clasps. \nThe materials used for both the scroll and the box are all sourced from Japan and the UK. Suitable for beginners. Places are limited to 6. \nWorkshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre was last modified: May 26th\, 2026 by

SUMMARY:Workshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre
DESCRIPTION:Learn to engrave and print using the linocut technique and create personalized stamps to use as bookplates\, for illustration\, decoration\, and much more! \nDate: May 23\, 2026
@ Manisinistre – Via Custoza 13\, Sesto San Giovanni
Instructor: Federico Blu di Prussia
Cost per participant: €70
Duration: approximately 3 hours
Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Number of participants: 10 \nWhat is linocut and what are bookplates?\nLinocut is an artistic printing technique that uses an engraved linoleum plate to reproduce images or writing on paper\, fabric\, or cardboard. The term derives from “linoleum” and the Greek “grapho\,” meaning “to write” or “to draw.” It has been used since ancient times to reproduce works of art and more!
Bookplates are personalized stamps that often somehow represent the owner’s personality and are used to mark the ownership of books.
During the workshop\, you can draw inspiration from Federico’s suggestions\, who has prepared ready-made botanical-themed graphics to transfer onto the plate\, or create your own design! \nWorkshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre was last modified: May 26th\, 2026 by

The two matrices\, inspired by the numbers 17 ‘a disgrazia and 31 ‘o padrone ‘e casa\, bring together numerous figurations\, objects\, and elements capable of best interpreting the two subjects portrayed. The engravings were inked with Cranfield Colours and printed on Fabriano “Rosaspina” paper. The People of Print event will remain open with the exhibition until January 11th in the Trastevere spaces in Rome. The works of 45 artists encompass the 90 numbers of the Neapolitan Tombola\, interpreting the symbolism of the Smorfia with imagination and inventiveness. For this reason\, I decided to exploit the gradient and brightness of the color to convey the duality of the mirror image in the two relief prints. The post visually narrates the entire process of design\, carving\, and printing on paper\, as done by many friends with their own artworks\, like Andrea Guerra in Urbino. If you’re in Rome during the holidays\, go visit the exhibition! \nWorkshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre was last modified: May 26th\, 2026 by

SUMMARY:Workshop “Crea il tuo Ex-Libris” Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan
DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the 2024 edition\, the “Antique and Rare Book Exhibition” returns to Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October 2025. Organized by FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (ETS) in collaboration with the Associazione Librai Antiquari d’Italia (ALAI)\, the event offers the public the opportunity to admire and purchase volumes of great historical and cultural value\, thanks to the presence of some of the most renowned Italian and international antiquarian booksellers. \nThe spaces of the splendid FAI Villa\, built in the 1930s by architect Piero Portaluppi\, will host over forty exhibitors showcasing works of exceptional rarity and beauty\, ranging from manuscripts to first editions of world literary masterpieces\, incunabula\, artistic bindings\, autographed books\, 20th-century first editions\, illustrated children’s books\, maps\, antique prints\, and works of art on paper. The exhibition is curated by the Associazione Librai Antiquari d’Italia\, which groups together antiquarian booksellers throughout the country and is the only trade association in Italy affiliated with the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB)\, a federation of 22 national associations\, 39 countries\, and over 1\,600 specialized booksellers. \nIn this context\, on Saturday\, October 25th\, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.\, the two-hour “Crea il tuo Ex-Libris” workshop\, led by Federico Blu di Prussia\, will take place. Participants will create a personalized ex-libris using linoleum printing\, a relief printing technique that involves carving an image into a linoleum surface. After a brief introduction\, all the stages of the process will be covered: from graphic design to transferring the design onto the block\, from carving techniques with gouges to inking and final printing with the stamps created. At the end of the workshop\, each participant will take home their own ex-libris. \nWorkshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre was last modified: May 26th\, 2026 by

SUMMARY:"Ur-Aqua - Cronache alluvionali"
DESCRIPTION:The APS Centro Studi Internazionale Altre Origini – S-CIAO association and the Dopolavoro Fotografico (DLF) photography collective are collaborating on the exhibition “Ur-Aqua – Cronache Alluvionali\,” scheduled for October 2025 at the former Centrale del Latte in Vicenza (Via Giacomo Medici 96a\, 36100 Vicenza).\nUr-Aqua – Cronache Alluvionali explores the delicate and unstable balance between urbanized space and the waterways that flow through it—a source of life and prosperity as well as a harbinger of destruction. This transversal reading begins with the unstoppable nature of floods and questions how communities and the environment mutually shape one another in a perpetual cycle of conflict and resolution. \nThe former Centrale del Latte hosts two exhibitions and a series of events focusing on manual printing techniques and photography as a means of reworking the contemporary. \nThe exhibition was created with the support of the Department of Participation of the Municipality of Vicenza and the contribution of Madam Agency (ig). Technical sponsor: Kita Frame. \nGround Floor\nUr-Aqua – Manual Printing Techniques: Exhibition of artist’s books created using typography\, screen printing\, and linocut techniques by Johny Hycinte Ngbwa\, Alessandro Martufi\, and Federico Blu di Prussia during their artist residency at the Tipi Strani workshop in Marano Vicentino (VI). Works by the artists\, all connected by the common thread of water\, are also featured. \nFirst Floor\nUr-Aqua – Photography exhibition curated by Lisa Dal Lago with projects by Martina Lavarda\, Veronica Mariani\, Emanuele Tortora\, and Lara Vedovato. \nWorkshop di linoleografia con Federico Blu di Prussia da Manisinistre was last modified: May 26th\, 2026 by
