SUMMARY:Mirabo Press | Interlude: New Work by Monica Angle & Beth Munro
DESCRIPTION:Mirabo Press is thrilled to announce their upcoming exhibition\, Interlude: New Work by Monica Angle & Beth Munro. The work on display is a mix of individual pieces by each artist as well as collaborative prints made while in residence at Mirabo. Angle and Munro create the elements of these collaborative works separately and then combine them in new ensembles\, reimagining the elements as parts of new\, unified visions. \nThe exhibition is full of prints that have evolved over the past year while the artists shared time together in our studio. The resulting work is an intriguing look at what happens when artists share a space\, materials\, and play off of each others’ approaches to making. In her individual practice\, Angle is interested in the way we remember the spaces we inhabit\, and references this through gestural images made via monotype and collage. Her work often displays soft\, abstract shapes in gentle colors\, and often evokes memories of landscape and mapping. Munro’s practice leans toward exploring patterns through layers of vibrant color. Her paintings\, collages\, and monotypes are sometimes abstract\, and other times represent objects and scenes from daily life. \nThe collaborative work Angle and Munro make brings out the similarities between the two – a tendency to create images and build color through layering and a spontaneous\, responsive approach. Join them for an opening celebration on Friday\, May 2nd\, from 5:30 – 8:30pm. \nOpening Reception: Friday\, May 2\, 2025\, 5:30 – 8:30pm \nOn View: May 2 – June 27\, 2025 \nGallery Hours: by appointment\, email info@mirabopress.com \nReno Art Book Fair 2026 was last modified: May 27th\, 2026 by

SUMMARY:Deeper\, Beneath the Surface
DESCRIPTION:Beneath the Surface\, Wentworth Woodhouse’s biggest exhibition to date\, brought together paintings by George Stubbs alongside works by nine contemporary artists from the UK and Europe\, living and working today. The exhibition compared and contrasted the historical with the contemporary\, finding connections and conversations between works of art. As Stubbs delved inside the bodies of horses to find out how muscle\, bone and sinew shapes their anatomies\, the contemporary artists went ‘beneath the surface’ in other ways. \nStubbs spent ‘some time’ at Wentworth Woodhouse in 1762\, occupying a role that could be seen as similar to artists in residence that occupy contemporary arts spaces today. During his time at Wentworth Woodhouse he produced paintings that are recognised as being hugely significant in the history of English art\, including the famous Whistlejacket. Wentworth Woodhouse wanted to celebrate Stubbs as a local hero and reinforce that really great art has been made in Rotherham — and continues to do so today. \nOver 300 years after Stubbs worked here\, Wentworth Woodhouse has invited Cait Earnshaw\, an artist / designer from Rotherham\, to serve as their young artist in residence. Cait collaborated with students from Wales High School to create new work and curate this new exhibition\, in response to Beneath the Surface. \nThrough workshops and interviews\, Cait explored language\, connection and dialogue using words\, humour and conversation\, in response to Beneath the Surface. By experimenting with typewritten pieces\, letterpress printing and the cut-up technique among other analogue processes\, she also aimed to explore the relationship between new and old\, and create a conversation between past and present\, as in Beneath the Surface. \n– \nExhibition Details: \nDeeper Beneath the Surface: Cait Earnshaw \nPreview: 13 May 2025\, 17:30 – 18:30 \nExhibition Open : 13 May – 22 June 2025 \nWentworth Woodhouse \nRotherham \nS62 7TQ \nReno Art Book Fair 2026 was last modified: May 27th\, 2026 by
