Linocut and collograph printmaker Jo Boddy is taking part in an exhibition with her printmaking group, Print at the Park. The exhibition is taking place at the Royal Berks Hospital, Reading, and runs from Monday 4th July to Saturday 27th August 2022. The group met whilst using the print studio facilities at South Hill Park, Bracknell, Berkshire and have been exhibiting together for over 10 years. Jo is their latest member, and was invited to join them in September 2021. The collective now numbers about 13, and although they are highly varied in the techniques used, they often share a common theme of subject looking at the natural world.
Jo’s featured works reflect her fascination with the deep connections humans have to the landscape, especially particular places that we come to know well and love. Her pieces feature her familiar landscapes, mainly the Swinley Forest in Surrey/Berkshire and the Norfolk coastline. “I am exploring what these places mean to me, but also to the many other stakeholders who love them, use them, own them, live in them, work in them and depend upon them for survival,” says the artist.
Jo has just been accepted to study for a Masters degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins from September 2022. The course is online and over two years, which works well around her family life with young children and a dog. She is looking forward to deepening her exploration of the themes which fascinate her, expanding her critical thinking, and immersing herself in the artistic community in a challenging way.
