‘Unseen Detail’ an exhibition by asdesign

posted by Anna March 21, 2018

Unseen Detail is an exhibition by asdesign at the Print House Gallery in Dalston, from the the 22nd of March until April 22nd. This series is developed from everyday objects that we simply glance over and see as uninspiring, such as ventilation diffusers.

When these objects are viewed closely, they reveal complicated patterns based on mathematics. The patterns in the work are created with the same base. This simple mathematics that are created with a complex colour pattern distort the observers view. The structure of the piece is only unveiled when they are seen close up. The effect is similar to the “tick of the eye” colour tests.

You can buy all of these beautiful prints on Department Store. Have a look here

The choice of screen printing as a medium comes from it’s physical nature. The design being first created by hand, then digitally worked up before being physically constructed. This is similar to designing a building. This process and architecture is what drove the initial inspiration of the unseen detail series.
