I went to see this exhibition at Tate Modern with a troublesome friend of mine expecting to see some damn cool experimental photography, and don’t be fooled, I got what I was expecting. What I wasn’t expecting however were these incredible 6ft+ tall heavy type paintings. Layers and layers of bold colour and prominent brush strokes form Klein’s ‘Text Paintings’. The photographs don’t really do them justice, I recommend you go and stand there in front of them in awe, as I did. If you want to know a little more about the multi-disciplinary master of photography and can’t make it to the exhibition then you can watch this charming interview video on William Klein and his Paris studio.
