Benny Andallo X Foundation F.M Posterzine

Hi-Fi: Hidden Fashion Initiative, a non-profit 360 creative scheme for emerging designers, recently partnered with Posterzine to create a physical activation that summarised their project with Benny Andallo and Foundation.FM.

The A4 zine which folds out into an A1 poster showcases 6 crowns worn by the resident DJ’s of Foundation FM, each designed and made by Benny Andallo, a Filipino-British designer who has been reshaping the narrative of headwear since 2019. Proclaiming himself a “silly crown designer” Andallo influences an animated spirit into his hats, fuelled by the dynamic energy of London. Crafted to stand out amidst the urban landscape, Andallo’s headwear promises to infuse excitement into the observer’s experience.

6 crowns were born from this collaborative project, celebrating the vibrant culture of London and shining a spotlight on 6 resident DJ’s of Foundation FM. Through an interview process, Andallo was able to examine how each DJs’ life experiences and upbringing inform their music taste, from which he created bespoke headpieces that reflect and embody their essence. “Aligning my style and aesthetic with the personality and musical tastes of the DJs proved to be an exciting challenge,” says the designer. This innovative union of fashion, music, and print champions women, queer, and non-binary individuals, and is testament to the rich tapestry of diversity and creativity that thrives in the capital.

Inside the Posterzine, readers can delve into Andallo’ inspirations for each of the ‘crowns’ he designed alongside the campaign images. Hi-Fi states; “By working with Posterzine, we were able to create a piece of art that our audience could hang in their home as well as read”. These zines were then handed out at their launch event, alongside a custom sticker pack to celebrate the project.
