Built on a mutual appreciation for fine and technical craftsmanship, the collaboration between Kvadrat and Raf Simons never fails to disappoint, delivering sophisticated home accessories, iconic for their unconventional design, high production standards and use of luxury textiles.
Pop and contemporary art, Modernist furniture, music and fashion textiles inform the inspiration behind the third collaboration, once again implementing Simons genius regarding contemporary fashion, industrial design, classic tailoring and colour combination. The palette for Kvadrat/Raf Simons 2016 echoes key themes of earlier collections, detailing rich crimson reds, a strikingly sharp yellow and a deep cobalt blue, complimented by both the neutral tones of the powder pink and the harshness of the black accents applied. The musical influence behind the collection is responsible for an array of aspects, from the naming of the three latest textile designs; Reflex, Pulsar and Fuse, to the iconic graphical stripe explored. The varying boldness of the stripe is a direct reference to the reflection of rhythm and harmony while the fashion influence of graphic patterns is also apparent.
Enhancing the uniqueness once more, for the 2016 collection, Kvadrat has been exclusively granted permission by Fondazione Franco Albini to reproduce and upholster in new textiles the 1940s chair; Poltrona Seggiovia.
