Hui Yeon Hwang is a graphic and visual designer based in Seoul. Her graphics are full of character and colour, with work spanning across print and editorial design. She incorporates 2D and 3D elements throughout her process, creating textures through layering and collage.
Influenced by her background in fine art painting, Hui Yeon creates each of her designs like an art piece, inspired by the moment she is in they are a reflection of her preferences and interests at that time. “I don’t think I have a distinctive style that is also consistent” she tells us. Her tastes are gradually and constantly developing and changing. She is inspired and affected by the things she sees on social media, the internet, and everyday life. “I want my style to stay in the activated flow of things. I get inspired all the time and do not want to be stagnant” says Hui Yeon. This flow of inspiration is manifested in her works in the textural, collage layers she builds throughout her process. These layers include holographic imagery and random typography alongside 3D renders, creating the effect of a surreal and absurd reality.
