Wild Stamps is the printmaking moniker of Daria, an illustrator based in Wroclaw, Poland. Daria has always had a passion for artistic things, from painting, to sculpting, and even sewing. She has been fascinated with old-school printmaking techniques like etching, metalcut, monotyping, and linocut for a long time, but today predominantly focuses on linocut.
She is a self-taught graphic artist and has experimented with many different branches of art including oil painting, acrylic, and clay sculpting. “There has been a need inside me to make something all my life,” comments Daria. Illustration is another passion of hers, with her favourite tools including acrylic and gouache. Then, one day, Daria discovered rubber stamps and hasn’t stopped printmaking since, and selling her works is now her full time job. She tells us; “What I absolutely love is that my little pieces of handcarved art are going worldwide. Everyone can use it by themselves experimenting with ink, paper and own hand.”
Animals and plants are Daria’s biggest source of inspiration, as well as the “miraculous things” in every day life. She also often aims to add an educational aspect to her stamps, creating life cycles which are a great tool for kids. Many preschools/schools in Poland and worldwide are using her stamps as educational resources. Daria states; “I think this inspiration came with my biology passion and love for Montessori philosophy”.
The printmaker is looking forward to making more stamps and prints this year, as well as working on more educational posters.
