Like many of his generation, Enea Seregni grew up collecting and playing trading card games. As an artist, illustrating cards has always been one of his dreams. This wish has now become a reality as last year he was asked to participate in one of the most interesting and challenging illustration projects he has ever worked on: MONSTERS!.
MONSTERS! is a series of trading cards focused on the theme of mythological creatures. Designed by Italian Twitch streamer Dario Moccia and published by Panini Comics, the collection includes 198 cards depicting monsters from all over the world, inspired by different cultures, mythologies, religions, cosmologies and folklore.
The cards were illustrated by more than 40 artists with very different styles. Enea was the only printmaker to have been contacted for the project and illustrated four cards, creating linocuts which he subsequently painted in watercolour. The final result on the cards, combined with the holographic finish is impressive.
This series of cards has only been marketed in Italy and is currently sold-out, although an artbook will be released shortly containing all the illustrations and the making of the product.
Stay tuned for more trading card projects coming soon!
