I came across this amazing project via Vice.com and an unspeakable awe filled me. There has been a rising number of refugees in Germany and amid ongoing debates on this issue, its really hard to imagine how these refugees had to flee their homes and are now struggling to keep going in difficult circumstances in such a scenario. Earlier this year, Vice Germany gave six disposable cameras to six refugees, five males and one female, who lived in Berlin and asked them to document their everyday lives in 27 photos.
The project was inspired by their belief that it is very important for all of us to start focusing on what we should do to bring us together. It is truly an ambitious project that really gives us an insight into the everyday lives of these refugees and most importantly, these stunning images give us a fresh perspective of the crisis. I don’t think it’s too much to say that perhaps without these images, we might still be lost in a world where all news, ideas, and information look the same.
