The latest publication to launch on In Perpetuum – People of Print’s crowdfunding platform – is Rise of Happiness, a new FREE zine which aims to give back to society and help people understand more about themselves.
Rise of Happiness sets out to do exactly what it says in its name. The magazine contains articles and tips inspired to ensure that they are more than just writing on paper, encouraging readers to reflect on who they are and what truly makes them happy. The content is thought-provoking, helping people grow their body, mind and soul.
The publication was founded by Kaigan Carrie and Rob Hosking, who have always been interested in how people can manage their mental health and the severe impacts it can have on them. Rob, a qualified mental health first aider, helps people in their times of crisis; “I served as a frontline Police officer for 5 years which deeply affected my own mental health and I have suffered with PTSD since. Having experienced a career contradicting my own core values and following societal norms of what constitutes success, I realised the negative impact it had on my own wellbeing. Having gone through my own personal growth journey; I see that you can only be truly happy if you live a life aligned with your core values. I am now on a mission to ensure that others look inward and understand what makes them happy instead of following societal expectations.”
Kaigan tells us; “I’ve spent the last two years deep-diving into personal development and wellbeing and re-learning to trust my intuition. I am now committed to living each day in alignment with my core values. I see far too many people conforming to societal norms and ticking those boxes that society deems ‘successful’ and will make them happy, only to see these people left feeling empty and unfulfilled. This is where my passion for our company and this magazine came from.”
Rise of Happiness believe that there are 3 pillars in life that we need to nourish to live a truly fulfilling life. Thus, it is important for one to nourish their own physical body, emotional mind and soul. If we take time to be aware of ourselves and be in the present moment, noticing our own thoughts and feelings, and the world around us, we can gain a better perspective. Spiritual wellness acknowledges our search for deeper meaning in life. When we’re spiritually healthy, we feel more connected to not only a higher power, but to those around us. The magazine will contain inspirational stories from people who have made their goals a reality and expert advice and tips on improving your overall health and wellbeing.
If the COVID 19 pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of prioritising your own mental health and wellbeing. Around 1/3 of adults and young people say that their mental health has gotten much worse since March 2020. Rise of Happiness magazine is important as it will help readers improve their well-being and find more joy in each day.
We have all experienced the effects of Zoom fatigue since the pandemic and life seems to be going as fast as it always has, if not faster. Kaigan and Rob’s vision for the physical magazine is that it can be used as a self-care practice where their readers can connect to the present moment, take time out for themselves and slow down.
