Alma Kamal is a San Francisco-based graphic designer with a passion for print. She moved across the globe to learn more about design, herself, and others, and is not afraid to push the boundaries in order to expand her knowledge and work.
“Our World has changed. It has evolved drastically since the invention of movable type, and so have we” describes Alma. She continues; “The internet has reshaped our reading habits from linear to non-linear, however, the printed book still retains its traditional form, causing a disconnect between the reader and the ink on paper“. This gap gave reason for STET to exist. Through the platform of STET, Alma aims to come up with new forms of the printed book that encourage more people to read print, as well as highlight important humanities subjects.
The project consists of two redesigned books, promo booklets, a series of three educational booklets, a website, and a biannual publication. Every issue of the publication showcases selected books that she believes are worth checking out by those who are print enthusiasts or are looking to expand their private collections.
Alma’s work has been featured on different media platforms including Adobe Live, Communication Arts, and Print magazine.
