Untitled Signed & Editioned is a practical guide for signing artist’s print editions. Created by London-based illustrator and printmaker Vitoria Bas, this short and sweet booklet was made to help artists navigate the many different marks used to edition prints, and what they signify and add to the work.
Vitoria tells us; “It was written to aid other artists, but also served as a personal learning experience as I discovered and dissected new nomenclature and felt more confident in my prints.”

The publication offers accessibility to the printmaking vocabulary, giving agency to artists to add value and ownership to their work, helping them visualise every single product of the creative process of printing as compelling outcomes.
Vitoria started this project whilst she was working as a print technician at Central Saint Martins, and observed the student’s attitude towards their prints. She states; “Being new to many techniques, they created a series of experimental outcomes and were never quite sure what to do with it. Can they present the odd overprinted copy alongside the “good” copies? Can you change your mind about what colour you’re using halfway through a project? Do you just throw test copies away? The editioning guide was something I came up with to try to improve their confidence towards the work they produce.”

Having realised during the process much of the content of the guide was also new to herself, Vitoria made it available not only for art students, but to everyone involved in print and printmaking. Untitled Signed & Editioned is riso printed in black and red, on Fenner’s Redeem in a Colorset cover.
