Recent graduate and member of Limerick Printmakers is Ireland-based print maker Carrie-Anne Channon. Carrie-Anne fell into screen printing whilst studying for her BA in Fine Art and Design at the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork Ireland. Her work is characterised by use of bright colour with strong ironic and humoured text. The installation of the prints is important to her work, as she fills entire rooms with layered screen prints.
Carrie-Anne’s work is a response to the online reactions of millennials towards current social issues as well as the absurdist humour placed around them. Using repetitive pattern and bright colours, she brings light to social issues by creating relatable content. During exhibitions Carrie-Anne listens and pays attention to the audiences’ response to her work, which is imperative to further fuel her concept research and aid the creation of new prints.
Carrie-Anne has exhibited on both an international and national scale with upcoming exhibitions at MART galleries, Dublin Ireland and throughout Cork city in the upcoming year. She will continue with her screen printed installations at Limerick Printmakers after being awarded a residency and bursary following her recent graduate exhibition.
