Printmaker and illustrator Clara Mur’s project Screen Printing In The Garden has allowed her to to combine her two favourite things; going on vacation to the countryside and screen printing. For the project Clara created tote bags and prints whilst on a short holiday to her mother’s gardens in Menorca.

“I have the ongoing need to screenprint, something that is not always doable. After giving some thought on how I came to the conclusion that everything had to be smaller, easy to carry and easy to make” says Clara. It is for this reason she chose to draw directly on the screen, in a similar manner to a walk around with a sketchbook in-hand. The resulting illustrations reflect her direct contact and engagement with nature; delicate line drawings thoughtfully observed. Printing in this unique way ensures an unrepeatable piece is created as a result. Clara also teaches this technique in various workshops all over Barcelona.

“Anywhere and anytime is a good place and a good occasion for screenprinting!”
