Recently discovered illustrator, A.F ILLUSTRATIONS (Antonia Figueiredo) has just begun to explore the wonderful world of art in all its form. Born, raised and still living in São Paulo -Brazil she comes from a family of artists, meaning she grew up in the midsts of paints and brushes but never really took it up until June of 2018 at the age of 21!
Observing her work, it’s clear that Figueiredo always tries to incorporate as much colour as possible, being a bold focus of the pieces that she makes. According to Figueiredo “[colour is] a way of training the eye to really see the colours that surround you”. Which is an interesting perspective, perhaps it does make you more aware of the colours absorbed by our eye such as the saturated pigments of an Autumn forest or the cool grey tones in a London cityscape.
Recently whilst exploring her new love for drawing and painting, she began experimenting with printing her paintings in a Risograph format. This way she can (in a much more cheaply fashion) distribute her work to a bigger audience, this idea of sharing being a passion that has become an important aspect of her creative process.
