You might think that all these extraordinary pieces of art are print from the very first time you see them. But if you take a look closely, you will hint that all this work is a result of experimentation in materials. And by mixing and matching two extremes that do not regularly fit together, Bonnie Mably, a recent graduate from University College of Falmouth, has unquestionably given life to everyday materials that would otherwise be overlooked.
Bonnie Mably is an idiosyncratic talent that spends a lot her time researching and exploring materials of all kinds. She is intrigued by the playful misuse of objects and methods. She has a fascination with both the ordinary and the extraordinary, the cosmos and the microscopic, their relationships and also the process of rediscovering new essence in each element she uses.’I definitely feel I acquire lots of different roles when I work. Alchemist, Geologist, Theorist and sometimes Scientist!‘ asserted Bonnie.
In her tile series, she used cast plaster and pigment to form the work. They were set in a block and carefully sliced up later to expose cross sections and the contents inside. You can also check out her website to discover more of her work in close-up!
