Boo Saville is a London based Artist and Printmaker. She explores the symbolic and ritualistic images of human remains and archeological remnants through the human body and source material of scientific or archaeological textbooks. These images are then portrayed in her own artistic way through painting and printmaking.
This particular series are etchings with mixed media. They have a very dark quality to them as the work is a selection of photo etchings made from a dead mans image. The prints have been disrupted by being drawn on, burned or cut, in many ways changing the mark making process and adding an element of risk to the final image. The title for the monoprints, ‘Ghost’, is a suggestion of the haunting face of the image that has been captured and then drawn over to convey the person in the image is no longer here.
