Brooke Lambert is a professional printmaker and painter living and working in Massachusetts, and a lover of nature and found objects. While our throw-away society continues to pollute the planet, Brooke uses discarded textured materials, shapes, and objects to evoke the wonders of nature. In some of her work, she uses the very materials that are choking the ocean (such as string and plastic netting) to illuminate the ocean’s fragile beauty.
Brooke’s work in collagraph printmaking is largely influenced by the emotions and memories of natural environments and the ocean; its ever-changing light and the movement of the waves. In her art she shares these moments of happiness and hope: the floating shadows you see submerged underneath a wave, the red tinge behind your eyelids while lifting your face to the sun, the pattern of a honeycomb or a fishing net, and all the beautiful shapes, forms, and colour in nature.
It is her hope that the moments of unexpected beauty captured in her images inspire a deeper appreciation of the natural world. By learning about her sustainable practices and dedication to repurposing and reclaiming, Brooke encourages us all to change our ways to protect our environment.
Known for her innovative approach, Brooke challenges conventional norms by spotlighting collagraph plates as finished art pieces, with an innate perception of her collagraph plates as sculptures.
Her artistic narrative draws inspiration from the vast expanse of the ocean and its ever-changing beauty, embodying strength amidst chaos. Echoing a profound dedication to environmental preservation, Brooke’s creations encapsulate the duality between intimacy and distance, the urgency to protect nature, and the unexplored realms waiting to be discovered.
Brooke holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and shows her work widely in New England, New York, and beyond. She works in Studio 447 at Western Avenue Studios & Lofts in Lowell, MA, and is currently represented by Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition in New York and is sponsored by Akua Inks and Speedball Art Products. Brooke has eleven years of teaching experience and currently teaches art workshops and holds artist demos at several locations in New England.
