Caroline Tomlinson’s latest screen print is a celebration of self-love. On The Wings of Love is an A3 one colour hand finished screen print that signifies a new chapter in Caroline’s life; one where she puts herself first.
Caroline states; “The biggest lessons in life are always the ones we fail time and time again. Because of this. they not only are the hardest, but once ‘cracked’ it is thankfully, (often) impossible to then go back to the ‘before’. Before the lesson. Before things were learnt and our minds and hearts were shifted forward.” The concept of loving herself was never high or really visible on Caroline’s list of ‘things to be aware of, or working on/or towards’ for the first three and a half decades of her life. She comments; “Until that point it was a succession of repeated mistakes and heart breaks. Of all the kinds you can think of each bringing their own varying degrees of emotional pain.” However, there always comes a point where something shifts within and the ‘mistakes’ start to feel more useful. Instead, they take the form of a lesson which rather than being overlooked once more is learnt from.
On The Wings Of Love is in celebration of this lesson, representing a shift and a new chapter in love. Caroline concludes; “[The print] is for anyone who needs reminding of this, or has just learnt form their own lessons and is through the other side and is about to take off.”
