Heavily influenced by his skateboarding and snowboarding hobbies and the late 80’s early 90’s punk scene, is designer and illustrator Chadwick Tolley. As a new People of Print Member, Tolley spent his college years road-tripping around the western half of the United States, snowboarding, backpacking, rock climbing and mountain biking. An adventurous individual no doubt, a trait that is also noticeable in his work featuring collages of found materials and imagery.
Tolley is now domesticated with three children, aged 1, 5, and 9 years old as well as holding down a steady job teaching printmaking at Augusta University. For the last few years, he has been working almost exclusively in screen printing. Tolley’s work grows out of collage and drawing and is often overtly or subtly subversive. His “whatever it takes” approach is playful and refreshing with each image taking a different path consisting of hand drawing, collage, digital manipulation, sanding, painting and stencils.
