Manhattan-based artist, illustrator, and printmaker, Kate Segal’s, new series of works takes inspiration from nature, specifically the forms of mushrooms and jellyfish.
Kate originally digitally painted the series using more muted tones. However, after experimenting with variations of saturation, curves and tones, she ended up bringing to life electric 3D seeming duo and tri-tone pieces, unlike any work she has created before.
The series is Giclee printed using vivid dedicated blue and pink ink in the Canon 11-ink set, yielding highly saturated, gorgeous colours that are not available with a regular CMYK printer.
Kate’s art incorporates her signature use of bright colors and is embedded with themes of nature, spirituality, and the human condition, with an emphasis on the female experience. Her art is created with the intention to bring joy, happiness, and peace to all of its viewers.
These Electric Flora/Fauna works are ever evolving, with plans to depict more creatures including sea urchins, other varieties of mushroom, and sea life.
