Working from her little attic studio in Cheshire with an exquisite cast-iron etching press, Francis Allwood is a printmaker who concentrates on intaglio and monotype printmaking processes, handprinting beautiful drypoints, mezzotints, and monotypes that are always inspired by her life-long love of animals and nature.
Francis first fell in love with these printmaking techniques whilst studying Illustration at Kingston University, and she remains passionate about using drawing as the foundation for all of her work.
At the moment, Francis is focusing on incorporating more colour into her work, and is somewhat preoccupied with the story of little British mammals, especially beavers – expect to see this subject cropping up more and more within her work!
