Barcelona-based visual artist Micaela Muzi is currently working on a new project born from her fascination with mountains and outdoor explorations; An Ode to the Mountain.
For the last three years, Micaela has been hiking in different places between Argentina (where she is from) and Spain (where she has been living for the last four years). The project started from her photographic archive as she goes hiking with her camera in-hand, letting her mind surrender to the landscape while capturing nature.
She tells us; “Inspiration comes from personal confrontation with the landscape. Walking in nature, being surrounded by nature, brings me peace of mind and a creative state where I let my mind fly and explore without limits.“
After going through her photographic archive, Micaela started playing with the images, deconstructing them and creating compositions. “I tend to imagine the work as I create it,” says the artist. She then transferred the photographs to graphic media, photogravure, and screen print, creating images that dialogue with our contemporary human condition and its correlation with nature and technology.
During the month of August, Micaela has been expanding her knowledge of photo etching with photopolymer at an art residency, Art Print Residency in Barcelona, where she worked on this project.
