Kaitlin Moon, aka Neptooncat, is a relief printmaker and stay-at-home mom. Kaitlin’s printmaking name, Neptooncat, comes from her first AOL account back in the 1990’s when she had to share an account with her sister – their dad combined three things that the young girls liked: Neptune, cartoons, and cats. Thus, Neptooncat was born. Although her sister moved on from the name, Kaitlin has adopted Neptooncat all these years later as it still resembles ideas she likes: science, cartoons, and animals.
Kaitlin is a self taught printmaker and learned how to print through Instagram and YouTube back in 2020. She has recently begun hosting workshops with local organisations in the Cincinnati area so that she can spread her love of printmaking to others.
Her art, which she creates at night in her free-time alongside being a mom, can be described as whimsical, playfully edgy, funny, silly, and cute. Many of her prints having been imagined while she’s sat on the couch late at night watching workplace comedies and terrible movies. She hopes to someday work during the day.
