John Parkinson, or ‘Parky’, is a Brighton-based illustrator, printmaker and rather impressive street artist. Multi disciplinary, his techniques, materials, colour choices and surfaces are ever changing, but his experimental, self-challenging style all-permeating. Aside from his many characters discoverable around Brighton walls and the rest of the UK, works of particular note include his screen printed and hand bound books recording Brighton skate spots, and the prints he has made from a disassembled printer, using the separate components as relief printing blocks. The results are witty, ironic and beautifully composed – be sure to watch the process video available on his website with music by James Stafford.
