PRENSA LA LIBERTAD

PRENSA LA LIBERTAD is based in Buenos Aires and strives to rescue the forgotten technologies of moveable type alongside liberating the messages of experiences in the city. Federico Cimatti is Prensa La Libertad, a 25 year old Graphic Design student at the University of Buenos Aires. He enjoys writing verses while he travels by bus around the city, and works as a typesetter printer in his factory.

During Federico’s journey he found colleagues who shared the same passion and that made him participate in two conventions and one individual exhibition in the outside.

Reverting To type (Dic. 10/Jan. 11) was a convention organized by the New North Press of London and it took place in Standpoint Gallery where 30 printers participated from all around the world. Amongst them were Hatch Show Print, Yee-Haw, Dafi kühne and Mr. Smith.

Rezo Versos (Mar 4/Apr 1) was an individual exhibition organized by Prensa La Libertad at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum of Wisconsin and La Teatral Books of Buenos Aires city. This exhibition reunited a compendium of posters and pieces that were the result of 2 years of work.

Type Impressions (Sept. 2/Nov. 20) was organized by the Danish printer Jens Jørgen Hansen and it took place in the Danish Museum of Media in Odense city, and it counted with the presence of 20 printers of all Europe, among them Cabaret Typographie, Officina Nove Punti and Flowers and Fleurons.
