Hound & Bone

We engage with creatives, brands and studios from all over the world reaching the furthest parts of the planet. Melbourne Australia is a huge creative huge filled with established studios, retail spaces, print studios and more. This week we present new People of Print Member Hound & Bone who are a fine art printing and art reproduction studio based in Melbourne. Founders Cassie Bone and Pete Daniells know that for many artists, approaching a fine art printer can be intimidating. So, combining their love of collaboration, their fine art, design and printing background, they founded Hound & Bone to help make fine art printing accessible to everyone.

This creative duo runs Hound & Bone out of a small one-room studio on Sydney Road in Brunswick. They wanted the space to feel as friendly as possible, so there’s no formal reception area, no private offices. Just them, the printer and their dog, Dash.

Preferring to work directly with artists rather than organisations, labels and brands, most printing projects start with a 30-minute consultation that helps the artists better understand the process, and Hound & Bone choose the materials and techniques that will best showcase the work. After scanning and expert colour balancing to make it shine, all work is printed on an Epson 9900, a large format printer capable of producing prints up to 44″ wide. The printer works in RGB and takes eleven inks (as opposed to CMYK which takes four) meaning Hound & Bone can produce prints that are as true to the original artwork as possible.
