Confidently infusing ‘the simplicity of allure’ into their ethereal aesthetic, Menta., the branding and packaging studio founded by Laura Me?ndez in 2008, beautifully combines classic and contemporary visuals to achieve their carefully constructed and well executed crafts. From identity and packaging to typography and art direction, Menta. pride themselves on their analogue approach, preferring the use of ink over vector wherever possible.
Based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Menta. consists of a talented team of four, with Laura Me?ndez leading the art direction and Ericka Medina, Blanca Jime?nez and Margaux Sarlin combining their expertise to achieve the timeless qualities iconic to the creations of the studio and in turn, prove the power of a small team.
Lucky enough to design in a studio immersed in a vibrant foliage, nature is undoubtedly channeled as a dominant inspiration, exemplified through the whimsical plant motifs portrayed as both a complimentary art direction prop and significant design decision.
Additionally to nature, Laura Me?ndez states Louise Fili as one of her heroines, deeply identifying with her regarding the belief of small teams producing great work and the ideology that you don’t have to shout to stand out. Regarding design influence, you can confidently see Fili’s exquisite vintage graphic aesthetic within Menta’s illustrated packaging for Savon Stories below.
