Official Rio 2016 Olympic Games posters

posted by Alice Harrison August 7, 2016

With the Rio Olympics upon us, the 13 artists chosen to capture their depiction of Brazil through their distinctive yet contrasting aesthetics have unveiled their creations. Breaking tradition from the usual single Olympic poster design, Carla Camurati, director of culture for the Rio Olympics explains to Paste Magazine “one artist couldn’t accurately represent the more than 200 million walks of life that call the South American host country home.” From contemporary adaptations of the traditional motifs to the sculptural silhouette of a runner illustrated on Copacabana Beach, the series of vibrant posters represent the beauty and diversity of Brazil.

Soon afterwards, the posters will be housed as decorations throughout local Rio schools.
