Headed by Shunsuke Ikai, Albatro Design is a multi functional design agency based in Tokyo. Using both digital and analogue techniques, they create new values from diversified perspectives.
As well as producing specimen plants and potteries, they also exhibit experimental print works that explore the relationship between design and print, using a variety of analogue printing techniques. Albatro Design also run a cafe shop called PRINT + PLANT in Toritsu Daigaku, Tokyo. Here they sell plants, as well as their letterpress printed products.
The team at Albatro Design have recently started printing a new series of Albatro Art Card’s entitled Natural History. In the series they experimentally apply techniques such as letterpress printing and foil stamping to create contemporary, unique and one-off natural history illustrations. 300 sheets of each title are printed, all revolving around the same theme, yet with different expressions and colours in each illustration. The series features imagery of dinosaurs, planets, and foliage, to name a few.
