UK experimental printmaker Rosie Emerson is releasing two brand new editions featuring queens from the silver screen; Brigitte Bardot and Nina Mae McKinney. “This whole collection has been great fun to print as no single print has been the same, it’s been a new reveal every time,” describes Rosie.
Rise is 38 x 38cm screen print with acrylic paint on Saunders 425 gsm paper. Each edition is totally unique, with hand painted detailed inspired by Rosie’s grandmother;s abstract painting style. Her Grandmother, Keyna Emerson’s (1922-2021) painting technique involved layering and removing paints, balancing bold colour washes with delicate lines created using pencil or sticks dipped in paint. These energetic new works have seen a new evolution in style for Rosie. Each unique print features lesser known beauty of the silver screen, Nina Mae McKinney.
The second release, Bloom, features actress and style icon Brigitte Bardot. Each edition has been hand painted and then screen printed. Every one of these unique works balances energy with precision, and offers a choice of palette from bold and punchy to softer hues.
Both prints will be launching 6th November and are available in an edition of 20, with 1-10 through TAP Gallery, and 11-20 at Art Car Boot Fair with Smithson Gallery. All prints are signed and editioned in pencil with an artists stamp.
