The latest release from screenprinter Hannah Carvell is The Frilly Ones; a collection of 1/1 original screen prints that are just that – frilly! Each piece is comprised of the same hearts that make Hannah’s best selling Hearts and Flowers prints, and have so many layers and colours Hannah says she has “lost count of how many hearts are in each print”. These layers were built up over time and by eye; some of the prints have been in a pile in her studio for over a year and will eventually have more layers printed up.

The Frilly Ones are lacking in symmetry, each one being a completely abstract piece built up of multiple colours to create contrast. Every piece in the series is an individual work of art, and because of the many layers they are composed of they have smudges, texture, and ink splats within the print.
Hannah states; “If you like pristine and perfect the frilly’s are probably not for you, but if you like a one-off original that’s oh so bright and colourful then these are just the thing…”.
