Arch-ive: Edition 3 By Dominic Eley

Welcome to Arch-ive : Edition 3, a publication connecting urban practitioners such as architects, artists and designers with the literature that has shaped their work. Arch-ive showcases the unique relationship each practitioner has with books, exploring how they use, question and organise their literary resources. 

Two editions have already been published online, but they are now launching a fundraiser to take Edition 3 to print. This will be self-published, allowing them to retain complete control of the offer. They have broadened the scope of Edition 3, designing a collection of interviews, essays and photographs that will enable users to cross-reference ideas and deepen their understanding of the built environment. Alongside a B2 poster, these elements are collected together in an archival folder representing diverse and engaging voices across the built environment.

Arch-ive : Edition 3 will be exclusively available in print. Having already published two editions online, engaging with amazing practitioners such as Tony Fretton, Biba Dow and Alun Jones, Philip Christou and Neal Shasore. “We are excited to publish a physical copy of the upcoming interviews. To truly understand and interact with practitioners’ libraries, interviews are extensive and often feel too long to read online. Besides, a book about books only felt right to publish as a book.” 

With your support, we can share these invaluable insights on how literature influences our built environment. From the outset we wanted to create a unique publication, tying into some of the themes that have been discussed during the interviews. Alongside artist and graphic designer, Louie Isaaman-Jones, this has culminated in a collection of items stored in an archival folder, allowing you to cross-reference elements, whilst also adding your own. To keep costs down and offer the publication at an affordable price, with your support, we will be printing the interviews, essays and photographs ourselves. Similarly, we have offered a wide range of rewards, with interviews available to buy individually, as a mini-collection, or as the complete publication.
