Before introducing this project, it is important to clarify that Posterzine® is a registered trademark owned by People of Print Ltd. The publication presented here uses the title Poster zine as a separate artistic concept and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially licensed by People of Print. We share this distinction with full respect for the artist and team behind the project, and in the spirit of clear communication for our readers. The project itself stands as an independent creative work with its own intent, authorship, and visual language.

With that distinction in place, Poster Zine by Wojciech Tubaja is an ambitious, oversized B0 format publication that explores how fashion imagery constructs desire, and how the viewer becomes both spectator and participant. Conceived as an interactive object, the publication invites audiences to cut out and assemble life-sized male models, forcing a deliberate friction between creation and destruction. In order to build one figure, another must be sacrificed. This mechanic turns a familiar process of consumption into a moment of choice, loss, and reflection.

Tubaja describes the publication as a way to materialise the tensions that shape consumer culture, where longing, scarcity, and image making co exist. Presenting the models at a true 1:1 scale was central to the concept, placing viewers face to face with the bodies that drive fashion’s visual economy. Their size transforms the act of looking into a direct, physical encounter. Collaboration was equally vital. Photographer Greg Mikrut brought a vibrant, contemporary aesthetic that draws from his work in Vogue, Numéro, L’Officiel Hommes, and GQ. Graphic designer Wojciech Mazur translated the concept into a precise cutting blueprint, mapping each limb and contour for seamless assembly. The project also brought together stylists, hair specialists, and models Norbert and Bartek under Tubaja’s direction as editor in chief.

The publication was released as a limited edition of 380, reinforcing its position as both a collectible object and a cultural commentary. It extends Tubaja’s broader practice as the founder of Pinokio Models and Pinokio Gang, a print initiative focused on experimental, participatory formats. His work often challenges viewers to become aware of their own roles in systems of looking, consuming, and desiring. Poster Zine echoes that intention by engaging directly with the mechanisms of fantasy, idealisation, and the fragmented processes through which fashion imagery is built.

Throughout the project, Tubaja returns to the idea that desire is never neutral. By inviting the viewer to cut, assemble, discard, and reconstruct, the publication exposes the labour of image making and the fantasies embedded within it. The playful tone contrasts with the seriousness of its critique, reminding audiences that even the most visually appealing systems carry power structures beneath their surface.

As Tubaja notes, “Go ahead, after all, everyone secretly wants this.” The invitation is both sincere and provocative, challenging viewers to examine what they want and why they want it.

Poster Zine stands as a bold example of contemporary print experimentation, pushing the boundaries of publication design, fashion imagery, and audience participation. It operates simultaneously as artwork, commentar,y and tactile experience, grounded in collaboration and rooted in a desire to question the systems that shape visual culture.
