Oasis ’25 – Commemorative Print by Richard Welland

posted by People of Print Features February 13, 2026

Oasis ’25 is a commemorative print series by Richard Welland, created in response to the final show of Oasis’ widely discussed 2025 tour, which closed in São Paulo on 23 November. As the tour came to an end, fans and first time converts alike were still processing the emotional weight of the performances, with many describing the shows as overwhelming, unreal, and deeply affecting. The prints were conceived as a retrospective homage to that moment, offering a tactile way to reflect on an event that many believed they would never experience again.

Rather than relying on photography or documentary imagery, Welland’s approach focused on simplicity and restraint. The studio developed a set of four individual A1 prints using hand cut, painted, and deliberately defaced lettering. The intention was to create something raw and unpolished, allowing imperfection and physical process to carry the emotional charge of the work. A limited colour palette and muted tones were applied over a canvas like background, reinforcing the analogue quality of the prints and avoiding anything overly polished or nostalgic.

The conceptual starting point came directly from Welland’s own experience of attending one of the shows. The atmosphere of the crowd and the shared emotional buzz became the foundation for the series. The goal was not to recreate the concerts visually, but to distil their energy into a graphic form that felt immediate, direct, and relatable. By stripping the imagery back, the prints invite viewers to project their own memories and emotions onto the work, mirroring the collective experience of the live shows.

Each print features short lines of text taken from real fan reactions to the gigs. These quotes were included as fragments rather than focal statements, allowing the voices of the audience to sit quietly within the compositions. Their presence reinforces the idea that the project is not about a single perspective, but about a shared cultural moment shaped by thousands of individual experiences.

The complete set of four prints was released for one week only, emphasising their role as a time specific artefact rather than a permanent product. Available as limited fine art giclée prints at A1 scale on 300gsm paper, the series functions as both a graphic tribute and a physical keepsake, offering fans a way to hold onto a fleeting piece of music history.

With Oasis ’25, Welland extends his long standing practice of creating bespoke, concept led artwork rooted in music and culture. The project demonstrates how analogue processes and considered restraint can be used to translate collective emotion into a lasting visual form.
