A group of artists known as Kollektiv will be taking over a vacant produce and butchery shop in Brighton after reaching their Kickstarter goal of £3500 to fund the project. Sophie Giblin, coordinator and curator finished her art degree recently and decided there was a need for galleries aimed directly at emerging artists wanting entrepreneurial opportunity and training in opening DIY exhibiting spaces. The gallery officially opens to the public on Monday, November 25th 2013 and the Private view will be Saturday, November 30th. Sophie Giblin, mentioned that “the suspense from the Kickstarter was lethal, but I knew we would make it.” Lick Frozen Yogurt are making a pop-up appearance, giving away free Christmas themed frozen yoghurt for one night only. There will also be three silent auctions of famous illustrators artwork donated to the group to sell, along with the 20 artists work. The artists will also be giving workshops to the public whilst they’re open.
