Dont be sad! Its official; weve made it through the darkest days of January, and the countdown to the S.A.D publication launch is fully underway.
Studio Calm and Collected are the guys behind the lurid and pixelated scenes. Amongst other projects for brands including Jo Malone and Absolut vodka, the South London trio has spent the last nine months carefully curating an anti-woebegone publication.
Why S.A.D? The book is a visual response to Seasonal Affective Disorder. With its apt abbreviation, this disorder is a form of depression that can be triggered by a lack of natural sunlight. During the de-saturated winter months it is easy to experience a lack of creative motivation, and so Studio C&C have come to the rescue with a colourful pack to propel you through to spring.
The bespoke, large format, riso publication showcases the work of 33 practitioners and features a screen printed cover. The content spans illustration, graphics, comics, articles and narrative art. Studio C&C have worked with Ditto Press and GFSmith to print the material across a wide range of stock. The run is a limited edition of just 100 copies, so if youre interested youll need to stake your claim quick!
In association with Protein, the publication will be launched on Thursday 19th February from 7 10pm. Asides from a large dose of graphical material; the event will feature tropical cocktails, steel drums and S.A.D SKY, a site-specific light installation by Max Fordham. Keep up to date in the run up to the event here and RSVP@Prote.in.
