Celebrating Creativity with International Artists, Free Workshops, and Engaging Exhibitions!
Hereford College of Arts (HCA) have announced the return of the CMYK Festival of Print and Illustration on Saturday, May 17th 2025. Following the success of last year’s event, which attracted over 1,500 visitors and featured artists from as far afield as Brazil, CMYK 2025 promises to be an even more vibrant celebration of creativity and community.
Founded and curated by renowned illustrators and HCA lecturers Neil Hadfield and Nic Stevenson, CMYK is a dynamic platform that showcases the diverse world of print and illustration. The festival features a rich program of talks, workshops, market stalls, and exhibitions, offering something for everyone—whether you’re a creative professional, a budding illustrator, or simply looking for a family day out.
Headline Speakers:
· Clive Hicks-Jenkins: A renowned Welsh artist Clive Hicks-Jenkins is celebrated for his narrative paintings and artist’s books. Clive will be joining us for his talk – Heroes and Horrors: Illustrating Beowulf, The Iliad and The Odyssey for The Folio Society’.
The Printed Peanut (Louise Lockhart): Based in Abergavenny, Louise Lockhart creates delightfully bright designs. Her work, often infused with humour and joy, is loved and collected by a wide audience.
Festival Highlights:
Free Drop-In Workshops: Engage in hands-on creative sessions suitable for all ages, including Risograph Riot, Folk Felt, Funny Faces, and Party Animals.
Interactive Quiz: Join illustrator and Darktown resident Jonny Hannah for a lively and entertaining quiz that challenges your understanding of colour.
Exhibitions: Explore the works of the late Robin Chevalier, Student led HCA collections, and Ed Catley, showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions.
Art Market: We have over 100 artists joining us, including names such as Molly Fairhurst, Russell Taysom and Jonny Hannah.
Admission to CMYK 2025 is free, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of print and illustration.
