Characterised by themes of politics and other current affairs is the work of new People of Print Member, Charles Beneke, who works in a broad range of print media and installation addressing disruptive forces within closed systems. Whether the scope is global, societal, or personal, effects ripple outwards with potential from the subtle to the catastrophic.

Beneke asks are we the victims of disruptive forces or are we the forces themselves? How do we respond? Do we resign, do we mend, or do we embrace change and define positive outcomes? Whether a print, and installation, or a political poster, he prods his viewers to take action. His work is included in national and international collections including La Biblioteca Nacional de España and The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria. Recent solo exhibitions include In Absence of Reason, West Virginia State University; Prop, Utah State University; Specter, Akron Art Museum, and Accumulation, an Installation in Two Parts, The Lost Coast Culture Machine, Fort Bragg, CA. Beneke is also a professor of art at The University of Akron and serves as the current president of SGC International, an international printmaking organisation.
