We’re proud to be supporting No Place Art’s debut exhibition which is taking place this Autumn at The Handbag Factory, ASC Gallery, in Vauxhall, London. Established in 2018, No Place Art is an artist-led initiative dedicated to supporting artists at any stage of their career and connecting them with their future champions. With this ethos in mind, The No Place Art | Edition One | Materiality exhibition was born, providing an opportunity for artists, collectors, and respected arts organisations to form collaborative relationships. No Place Art are currently looking for submissions from artists working in printmaking, painting, and mixed-media to take part in their inaugural show! As part of the call out they have partnered with 14 prestigious award givers, all of which were hand-picked to promote growth and creative development for the exhibiting artists. The Edition One call out will also be reviewed by five renowned and experienced judges.
Edition One | Materiality will feature the work of 80 artists selected from their open call. Artists are invited to submit up to five artworks, up to a framed size of 2 × 2m, to be considered for the exhibition. Submissions should respond to the theme of Materiality raised in their essay, Materiality in Printmaking and Painting: A Nexus of Process and Meaning.
Materiality in art is a conversation between the medium, the artist, and the viewer—a layered discourse that unfolds through tactile and visual encounters. Particularly in printmaking and painting, the materiality of the surface becomes both the language and the substance of expression. The textures of a monotype, the etched grooves of an engraving, the brushstrokes of oil, and the impasto of acrylic all reflect an artist’s intentionality and engage the viewer in a sensory dialogue.
At its heart, No Place Art envisions a world where emerging artists are not only seen and heard, but supported and uplifted. This vision is grounded in action as they facilitate spaces where people, organisations, and creators can come together to build a network of mutual support. In turn, the act of creation becomes an act of collective dreaming, and a way of renewing hope and connection in a fractured world.
Awards for successful applicants in Edition One include a one month artist residency at Bainbridge Studios, an honorary life-time membership to People of Print, a £1000 cash award, a 3 week residency at Atelier de Gravure Empreinte, and a solo exhibition at Hive Gallery, amongst many more!
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to enrich your artistic practice and expand your network.
