London-based artist and professional printmaker Sophie Layton has recently announced her second major solo show with Eames Fine Art and this time we will be treated to a wonderful selection of her work spanning Carborundum prints, photo-etched imagery, printed transfers and monotypes. For this upcoming exhibition in spring 2016, You can expect to see Layton’s ventures across diverse mediums. We promise this is a must-see for anyone who wishes to see work that evokes the sense of the uncanny and creatively explores the juxtaposition of light and dark.
After gaining her degree in Fine Art Printmaking at the University in Brighton in 2009, Sophie Layton has been working in her studio in South London. Her work has been displayed in a number of national exhibitions including Originals at the Mall Galleries, London Art Fair, The London Original Print Fair and many others. She also demonstrated printmaking techniques at Art in Action and was sponsored by Eames Fine Art to complete a two-month residency at the Scuola di Grafica in Venice. The exhibition runs from 19th May until 12th June 2016 at Eames Fine Art in Bermondsey.
I love the physical and intellectual process of printmaking; the way results build up and ideas emerge onto paper, demanding constant decision-making. Sophie Layton.
